I obtained my BSc and MSc degrees in Geology and Geosciences from the University of Bonn (Germany) and my PhD degree from the Trinity College Dublin (Ireland). As a Research Associate at the IACT in Granada, I investigate the sources and mechanisms governing the metal cycles in low and high temperature reservoirs on planet Earth by using a combination of geochemical techniques such as trace and ultra-trace element systematics, radiogenic (Sr-Nd-Pb-Hf) and non-traditional heavy stable isotopes (Mo-Zn-Se). These are complemented by non-destructive techniques such as RAMAN spectroscopy and SEM-EDX.

In detail, my three major research lines can be identified as:

1) characterising the long- and short-term recycling of crust and sediments within the deep mantle as revealed by the composition of erupted lavas and mineral inclusions at mid-ocean ridges, subduction zones and intraplate settings.

2) understanding the environmental redistribution of metals and volatiles at the Earth’s surface through volcanic and hydrothermal activity.

3) Identifying and quantifying the increasing influence of anthropogenic activities on the natural metal cycles at the Earth’s surface through the study of modern sedimentary and atmospheric archives.
