Dr. Marco A. Lopez-Sanchez is a postdoctoral researcher at the Andalusian Institute of Earth Sciences, working on the ERC-OZ project. He holds a PhD in Geology from the University of Oviedo (Spain) and has previously held research positions at the University of Oviedo and Géosciences Montpellier in France. His research integrates observational, experimental, and computational methods to investigate the physical properties of Earth’s solid materials, with a focus on plastic deformation (rheology) and elastic deformation (seismic properties). He has expertise in microstructural and crystallographic preferred orientation analysis using Electron Backscatter Diffraction (EBSD) and image analysis, experimental methods with in-situ monitoring, and seismic modeling. In the ERC-OZ project, he studies the elastic properties and seismic anisotropy of materials under high-pressure, high-temperature conditions.
